Engine Differences: 3.6L vs. 2.0L
Each engine of the Jeep Wrangler provides impeccable performance, but what is the difference between them? For starters, if you want a manual transmission, then you'll want to go with the 3.6L V6, as that is the only engine for the Wrangler that can be paired with a manual transmission, with an eight-speed automatic transmission available. This engine is equipped with automatic start/stop technology, meaning that the engine will stop when you come to a complete stop and power back on when you release the brake. This technology has proven to help with fuel efficiency and overall performance.
The 2.0L I4 comes standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which uses mild-hybrid technology. This technology provides extra torque from the get-go, which gives the Wrangler more energy when accelerating.
If you're looking for an engine with extra torque that is great for off-roading, you might want to consider waiting for the 2020 release of the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine.
Towing Capacity
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler can tow up to 3,500 lbs. confidently when properly equipped with Trailer Tow and HD Electrical Group. Trailer Sway Control is also included, which is a system that helps you stay safely on course. The Jeep Wrangler can easily tow smaller toys, such as ATVs, jet skis, small campers, and small boats.
Model Availability
Each 2020 Jeep Wrangler trim configuration comes standard with the 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine. The 2.0L turbocharged I4 is available on every trim except for the Sport, the base trim. The 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 isn't available until 2020, and it will only be available on Wrangler Unlimited models with four doors.
